Change in LoungeKey airport lounges – new strong authentication when registering on the website or entering the lounge
After 14 April 2022, strong authentication of your card may be required when visiting an airport lounge in the LoungeKey network or when registering on the LoungeKey portal due to the security rules that must be observed under the PSD2 regulation.
In the case of verification, after swiping the card through the terminal when entering the lounge, you will be asked to enter additional data (this is the so-called two-factor authentication). In practice, this means that you also enter the Security Code (this is the CVV/CVC code on the back of the card), the country in which the card was issued and the postal code. Then you confirm the verification using Smart Key or SMS code with ePIN. This verification will no longer be required on your next visit.
Two-factor authentication will also take place as part of the registration on the LoungeKey portal (and when checking up the number of free entries on the website). Strong verification will not be required when registering on the website if you have already done so when entering the lounge. The same applies the other way around – if you have already passed the strong verification on the website, it will no longer be required in the lounge.
Please note! In both cases (verification as part of registration or a visit to the lounge), a pre-authorisation will be carried out for the amount of EUR 1, which is for verification purposes only. This amount will not be debited.
Thank you for your understanding.
